Clearview Presents Young Frankenstein ~ March 21st – 23rd

Written by: Erin Moran

Clearview Regional High School’s musicals never disappoint, but this year’s production of Young Frankenstein, a musical that is new to Clearview’s stage, promises to entertain and delight audiences in a new way – through comedy.

Young Frankenstein, is unlike past years’ productions of the dark, emotional Les Miserables, cute, peppy Hairspray and the more traditional The Wizard of Oz. While Clearview’s musicals usually have a deeper, more meaningful significance, Young Frankenstein is, above all, silly.

Clearview Spring Musical “This year, we’re doing a show that nobody is really familiar with. It’s a slapstick comedy, which is outside our box, so it’s been so much fun to tackle,” said senior, Melissa Holtzhauser, who is playing the role of Inga in her fifth and final Clearview musical.

Despite being a different, less familiar show than Clearview is used to, the show holds a special place in the hearts of the cast.

“This show is also special to me because I am a senior this year, so it’s my last show on the Clearview stage,” said senior, Sarah Knapp, who is playing the role of the hermit in her fourth production at Clearview. “This year stands out because the cast is very small and also very close.”

The much-anticipated show is approaching quickly. Opening night is Thursday, March 21 at 7:30, followed by 8:00 shows on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. Come prepared to laugh at the show’s cheeky one-liners, physical comedy and tap-dancing monster.

“This show has it all. Comedy, romance, action, something for everyone. Coming to see the performance would mean a great deal to the staff, crew, and cast who worked hard to put it together, and we guarantee you a good time,” Holtzhauser said.

“To all the people contemplating whether to come: stars start young,” said sophomore, Pat Knapp, who is playing the title character, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein. “You could be seeing any of the future faces of Broadway on the Clearview stage.”
